Welcome to the Nursery

For Ages Two and Under

Our goal is to provide a secure and loving environment for you and your child so that each of you may grow in the love of Jesus Christ.  We want you to feel welcomed and a part of our church through our congregation and Children’s Ministries activities.

Children are an important part of the life and ministries in Wylie United Methodist Church.  Just as Jesus received and accepted children, we seek to do the same.

Jesus said “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of God belongs to such as these”  ~ Mark 10:14

Our Nursery Staff

WUMC employs a loving, responsible, and well-trained childcare staff.
The caregivers are all experienced, educated in child development and first aid.
All employees undergo a background check and screening.

We will do all that we can to care for, teach, and love your child.  Please help us do our best by keeping us informed. We welcome any questions or suggestions you bring.

Wylie UMC wishes to provide your child with the safest and most loving care possible.  We also wish to promote understanding between parents and our childcare staff.  To accomplish this, we need your support and cooperation with the following guidelines:

 Sign-In Procedure

Always complete the sign-in sheet outside the nursery door.  This information is vital, as it will enable us to locate you in case of an emergency.

  1. The Childcare Director will put a numerical bracelet on your child and give you the match ticket.  You must show the match numerical ticket at the time of pick up.  Parents or guardians must pick up.
  2. Please label everything that comes into the nursery with your child’s name.
  3. We suggest a quick and happy release of the child to the childcare staff at the time of drop off.
  4. Vibrating beepers are located at the Nursery desk to help ease your worry about your child.  You will be notified if you are needed.

Diaper Bags

  1. Come prepared with the following labeled items:
    1. Extra diapers
    2. Prepared juice cups or bottles
    3. A change of clothes
    4. A comfort item; blanket, pacifier, etc…

Please do not bring toys from home.  Sharing can be traumatic for little ones when it involves a special toy!  We have many wonderful toys and activities for your child to play with.

Attendance

  1. Your child is welcomed in the nursery as soon as he/she has completed the first round of polio and DPT shots.  We recommend you also get your pediatrician’s approval.  This is usually around 8 weeks of age.
  2. Children are typically assigned to rooms according to their birth date.
  3. Please do not bring children whom you suspect are not feeling well.  We follow the good, old stand by rule; all children need to be fever and symptom free for at least 24 hours.  Fever or symptom free is defined as not requiring medication to manage their condition.

Please do not leave the church campus while your child is in the Nursery’s care.

If you have any questions or concerns, please see the Director of Childcare or the Director of Children’s & Families Ministries.
