Disciple 1 & Jesus in the Gospels Bible Studies

DISCIPLE is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders.

The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. DISCIPLE draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible. The first study in the program is DISCIPLE: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY, a thirty-four-week overview of the entire Bible.

Disciple 1 will meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-8:30 pm, starting August 28th

JESUS IN THE GOSPELS takes participants deeper into Scripture as they look up and compare passages and make notes on them. Examining different accounts of the same or similar material brings richness and texture to study.  Study the name, the place, and the people; and encounter the Jesus who is both hard to ignore and hard to control — a commanding, morally compelling figure as portrayed in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This is a 30-week study.

Jesus in the Gospels will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:30 pm, starting September 5th.

What can I expect these studies to be like?

Three and one-half to four hours of independent study each week (about 30 minutes daily) in preparation for weekly group meetings, which last 2.5 hours and include a 30-minute video presentation, both group & individual work, and a break time for snacks and fellowship.

Will there be childcare?

Childcare will be provided on an as-needed basis. Plese, contact Jan Bemer (jan.beamer@wylieumc.org), if you plan on participating and need childcare during that time
