B.I.G. Feed is the program our church runs during the summer to supply (mildly) healthy sack lunches to the modular home park 1 mile from our church.
What is the cost to feed a child?
One Sack Lunch = $1.55
Month of Lunches = $12.40
Summer of lunches for one = $35.65
One week of B.I.G. Feed (400 lunches) = $620.00
Eleven weeks of summer (4400 lunches) = $6,820.00
The first delivery of B.I.G. Feed lunches for 2017 will take place on Monday, June 5. Preparation of those Monday lunches will take place Sunday afternoon, June 4, at 5:00. We will be using SignUp Genius to help us all determine when we have adequate help. You may sign up to prepare sandwiches, deliver lunches, or oversee the library. Or, you can simply show up in the church kitchen at 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoons or at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays to make sandwiches, or at 11:00 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays for delivery of lunches. (Remember that you have to be at least 18 to deliver lunches.) Delivery of lunches will take place on Mondays and Thursdays throughout the summer.
You may also want to pick up items when you’re shopping – bags of apples, creamy peanut butter, sliced cheese (not individually wrapped), brown paper lunch bags, CapriSun or boxed drinks, or individually packaged raisins, snack crackers, or pretzels. Those items may be marked for B.I.G. Feed and brought to the kitchen.
